The new stroller was a hit!!

We had a fun day at City Fest! SF, Rush, and I went with a friend and her sweet little girl! I was very conservative with my spending... especially since there were tons of cute things there for children. I bought a pillowcase dress for Sydney Frances, and I ordered a onesie for Rush that will match SF's dress. His onesie will have a rhino on it, and it will look super studly with his new khaki shorts! I love SF's dress. We found them as soon as we got there, and there were lots of dresses there that were similar. I think these were the cutest we saw, so I am glad we grabbed them at the beginning! I think SF really likes it, too!

Is there really a need for bumpers on the crib when your child does then when he is ready to get up from his nap?

I finally decided on a double stroller for the twins. This is a HUGE decision!!! I have heard so many opinions. Some insist you need a front/back or tandem stroller... but then they hit each other in the head and are hard to steer. Some swear by a side by side... but then you can't fit through doors and they can REALLY hit each other. Oh well, I finally decided what I wanted and BOUGHT IT! (Well, after a night of thinking and two trips back and forth to Columbus with my Mama.) Even if you don't have twins, if you have two stroller aged children, this can be quite the purchase. We have all seen those mothers in the parking lot screaming at children while simultaneously trying to fold or unfold a monstrous contraption from the back of the car that it doesn't really fit very nicely into. I saw that girl at the pediatric clinic the other day. She had an infant and a child that was probably around 3 or so. Well, little cutie that was three was apparently in NEED of something because this woman proceeded to scream at the child... "I DON'T KNOW WHAT TO DO FOR YOU!!!!!!!!!" Then, little sweetie would say something back and her Mama would yell at her again... "I KNOW, BUT I DON'T KNOW WHAT TO DO FOR YOU!!!!!!" Her tone was less than friendly. Well, Mama was having a hard day apparently, and guess what? She also had to fold up that stroller. Although, she had no problem screaming at her child loud enough for the entire pediatric clinic parking lot to hear, she did manage to keep the expletives under her breath, but I could tell they were coming.. one after another.. some of them were probably at me for staring at her while that was all going on. I would have offered to help, but I had two babies with me and all. Anyway, all that to say that I wanted a stroller that doesn't make me feel like showing out in the parking lot at the pediatric clinic. I think I found it. Meet Combi Twin Sport EX...


I hope this is the beginning of a long, happy friendship. Call me if you want to go for a walk! :-)

WEIGHT CHECK

Many of you know that I lie awake at night thinking about ways to make Rush gain weight. He didn't gain as much as I would have liked between his Feb. and March. appointments. I was very anxious to find out about his weight at their appointment for their last (for real this time) Synagis shot yesterday. I am very excited about Rush's weight gain!! He gained a pound and five ounces this past month. Those two jars of baby food every night paid off! He weighs 15 lbs. 2 ounces! Go Rush!


Sydney Frantastic is also doing just perfectly fine with her weight gain. She weighed 16 lbs. 7 oz. This picture of her is of her doing her new clicking noise. If you click (or cluck?) your tongue at her, she will often do it back. This is her in action. I wish I had it on video. Very cute! Maybe I will catch it one day soon for video action. (OK.. I know it will be hard to contain the excitement as you anticipate the posting of that video, but it really is cute!)

First Easter!

We had a fantastic Easter today. We weren't able to go to church because it is still a big no on nurseries for the babies. We don't have anywhere that we go to church full time right now anyway, so we are going to work on that as soon as the two munchkins can go along with us!

This morning we woke up to find that the Easter bunny had come for a visit. He brought some new toys, books, and some baby food carrots for the babies. After cereal and fruit this morning, I read a book to the babies about Easter. I am always amazed at how attentively they will look and listen as I read a book. It is just proof to me that it is so important to start reading to children EARLY! (Sorry, teacher moment...)

We went to visit Gigi and Papa for lunch this afternoon. Both babies had Easter baskets full of goodies from Gigi and Papa. Then, Aunt Ivy and Uncle Tony brought new toys and a Baby Einstein DVD. Then, we went to Phil's parents next and visited with Gram, Uncle Chris, and Aunt Courtney. Granddaddy is out of town right now, so we were sad to miss seeing him this time.


O.K. Can y'all believe this? I mean.. can you believe it? The babies were completely spoiled at both sets of grandparents. They got TONS of new clothes!! They even got more toys from Aunt Courtney and Uncle Chris. It was like Christmas! Gram got them two walkers to use at her house. I didn't get a picture of them, but the babies loved them. They play music and kept the babies very entertained. I guess being the first grandchildren on both sides tends to lead to a bit of spoilage! It was exciting, though! (And, man, did S.F. need some new clothes!)


This has nothing to do with Easter other than that it was Easter morning, but this is how we found both babies when we went in this morning. It is very interesting to me that they frequently sleep in the same position. They were both sleeping tucked in the very ends of their cribs.

Visit to work

Wow! Two posts in two days! Watch out! You never know how I might surprise you! Ivy will be so excited because she said she checks the blog every day for updates. I, unfortunately, disappoint her many times during the week. She won't know what to do with two days of posts! Today was a work day for teachers at school, so my Mama brought the babies to school late in the afternoon so they could visit with all of the teachers (without any kids being there). I am still not ready for them to be exposed to the germs that crawl over an elementary school when the kids are there. So, today was a perfect day for them to visit. I just popped them in the Snap and Go stroller and we visited all 3 grade levels. The babies had plenty of new things to look at, so they stayed pretty quiet while they were there. I think they had lots of fun! I know I had fun letting them meet all of my co-workers. They have all been so wonderfully supportive from the beginning of my pregnancy and on. It was time for them to meet these babies I talk about all the time. I am so mad because I left my camera at home. I wanted to take some pictures, but the camera was on the microwave at home.. not in my purse where I thought it was this morning.

In other new, BCBS must not be hating us as much as I thought they were because they have approved an April dose of Synagis for the babies. The flu and RSV have been so rampant this season for little ones that they are including coverage for one more dose. So, the babies will be back for one more dose of Synagis later this month. So, Dr. Jones will be seeing me every month for the first nine months of these little lives. I am actually secretly glad I have to take them back because that means we get a weight check for Rush. I hope he has gained 5 lbs. Is that an unreasonable expectation?

Unfortunately, I will not be able to post pictures of the babies in the cute bunny ears that I purchased a while back. While the babies do have extra large heads, with their heads being the only part of them that actually falls onto the growth curve for a full term baby, they do not have the head of a five year old. They would need the head of five year old in order to wear the bunny ears. I apparently have no concept of size. I could fit both of their heads in one pair of ears. Maybe I should do that for an Easter picture. Amusement for all.

Rush under the coffee table


I know you always see this body pillow in our pictures. It is the only way I made it through the end of my pregnancy once I was on bedrest. It is now a permanent fixture in front of some glass doors we have on our entertainment center. The gigantic turquoise and lime green dots match our home decor perfectly. :-) Of course, SF figured out how to get UNDER it!



This one just cracks me up... Rush sleeping in his most favorite place in the whole world... his Fisher Price Rainforest Jumparoo. He has one at home, and my friend, Amy, loaned my Mama one, so he also has one at Gigi and Papa's house. Little stinker!

Green peas, anyone?

We have been rocking right along with trying all of the 1st foods from Gerber. Things have been going brilliantly. I have been wondering if I was feeding them anything they didn't care for because they seem to take everything right on in every night. Tonight was night 3 of green peas. They are fairly disgusting looking. They are not nice and smooth like our other 1st foods. They are lumpy and smell pretty bad. Both babies had tolerated them, though. I have read and been told that you often have to try a food 11-15 times before they really like it. Well, TOO BAD, people! There will be no more green peas in our house. Tonight, Rush just held them out on his tongue refusing to close his mouth. He just stared at me with green peas sitting on his tongue like he was saying, "Would you eat this? Look at it! Would you eat it, Mama?" So we finished up with applesauce and cereal so I could move on to SF. So, I put that little cutie right on in the high chair. She never really opens up wide, but she is steady when she eats. So, I started with a bite of peas. They sent chills down her tiny little spine. She shivered, her eyes watered. Eleven to fifteen times, right? So, I proceed with bite two. Full on GAG! And then another GAG... and then another GAG. Her eyes started to turn red around the edges and gagging was coming over and over. I started to slightly panic because I thought she couldn't breathe. That problem was solved, however, when she projectile vomited peas and 3:00 bottle all over the high chair and me. This post will be picture free because we don't take pictures of such things. I could take a picture of the disgusting bib sitting on the washing machine waiting to be washed before bed, but I will spare you. So, does anyone need any green peas? I have a spare jar or five.
